Bedrock and Climate Change - Adapting Forests is a segment of the Ecosystem Research webinar series. Denise Alving, a fourth-year Ph.D. candidate at Penn State University, will present her research on how bedrock conditions and the changing climate will impact the species of trees that can grow in Pennsylvania's forests. Her research involves comparing the growth of five native tree species to four species that are projected to do well with climate change. Species were selected for their projected migration with future climate conditions and likely importance to future forests. Participants will learn about tree physiology, forest genetics, and the opportunities and challenges of plantings.
