Penn State University Latino/a/x Experience Student Oral History collection. A narrative of the experiences of Penn State Latino/a/x students and alumni. These students and alumni share their experiences, culture and background as Latino/a/x students at Penn State. Interviews were conducted by Heidy Canales during the 2021 Fall semester and the 2022 Spring semester. Heidy, past-president of the Latino Caucus, had the chance to interview many Latinx Penn State alumni who served as student leaders throughout their time at University Park.
The alumni are from varied graduation years, which allows listeners to understand how Penn State has progressed and changed throughout the years through the lens of Latino/a/x students. These stories are not just a focus on the Penn State experience for Latino/a/x students, but also a brief insight into what being a Latino/a/x student was like at any university. Heidy's project was the first time the Penn State Special Collections Library actively sought and archived Latino/a/x student experiences through oral histories.
