Abhilasha, an international student from India, shared her educational and personal journey at Penn State University. She described her upbringing in Pune, India, the competitive academic environment there, and her transition to studying actuarial science in the United States. Abhilasha discussed the challenges of being an international student, including navigating visa requirements, finding support systems, and adjusting to the cultural differences. She highlighted the importance of her mentor, a professor who has been instrumental in guiding her both academically and personally. Abhilasha's main advice to herself and other international students is to not be afraid to ask for help and take advantage of resources like office hours, as they can significantly improve one's academic performance.
