Erik Suarez, an international student from Venezuela and Peru, discussed his experiences growing up in Venezuela, moving to Peru, and coming to study at Penn State University. He described the cultural differences between the countries, the political and economic crises in Venezuela that led his family to relocate, and the challenges of adjusting to life in the United States. Erik shared his involvement in various student organizations, his academic pursuits in international politics and economics, and his plans to stay in the U.S. After graduation to gain work experience. He also provided insights on how Penn State could better support international students and highlighted the influential mentors who have guided him throughout his educational journey.
