Farrah Jasmine Dingal, a Filipino student, shared her experiences growing up as the daughter of a foreign service officer and military officer. She moved frequently as a child, living in various countries in the Middle East and North Africa. This shaped her worldview and resilience, as she had to adapt to different cultures and educational systems. Dingal discussed her accelerated primary education in the Philippines, her high school years spent in multiple schools, and her university experience in Saudi Arabia, where she faced challenges as a young, non-Muslim, Filipino student. She eventually pursued a master's degree at Penn State University, where she has found a supportive community despite being an online, international student. Dingal plans to continue her education and eventually obtain a doctorate, with the goal of working in academia.
