Xiaoying Jiang, a Chinese graduate student at Penn State University, shared her experiences growing up in China, attending university there, and coming to the United States to pursue a doctoral degree. She discussed differences between the education systems, cultural norms, and daily life in China versus the U.S. Jiang highlighted the challenges of adjusting to the more interactive classroom environment and independent living at Penn State, as well as the support she received from a Chinese student mentor who helped her navigate the program.
