Faculty to Faculty is a video series created as a collaboration between The Schreyer Institute for Teaching Excellence and Penn State faculty. In these short videos, we asked faculty to share their pedagogical strategies and lessons learned from transitioning to remote teaching in accordance with Penn State's COVID-19 response.
In this video, Julie Ealy, an Associate Professor of chemistry, highlights some of the challenges she worried she might face, and the steps she took to overcome them. She ends with some of the teaching and assessment decisions she made and explains why she plans to implement them in her future labs as well.
Professor Ealy presently teaches general and organic chemistry and has also taught a 400-level bioinformatics course, and a Science, Technology, and Society course to freshmen where topics such as SARS and HIV were addressed.
